Zaad زاد
Provisions for the journey.
وَتَزَوَّدُوا۟ فَإِنَّ خَيْرَ ٱلزَّادِ ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ
The name
Zaad is the Arabic word for the provisions a traveller carries. The verse it comes from reminds us that the best of them is taqwa, mindfulness of Allah. The app tries to be a small part of that: the things you reach for each day, close at hand, wherever life takes you.
The story
Zaad began as Jantri, an app for the prayer timetables of Pakistan, where a jantri is the printed sheet of the year’s prayer times. People asked for it to work wherever they travel and live, so it grew: the method each country uses, the Qibla, mosques nearby, the Quran, duas and the Hijri calendar.
With all that, it needed a name that travels too. Jantri is now Zaad. It is the same app, and the Jantri table is still there for Pakistan.
What we hold to
- Free for worship, forever. Prayer times, adhan, Qibla, Quran, duas, tasbih and the barcode scan are free, with no ads.
- Private by design. No account, no tracking and no analytics. Your settings stay on your phone.
- Careful with what we claim. Times follow published methods, sources are credited, and the ingredients scanner never says whether food is halal.
- Calm. One accent colour, skies that follow the prayers, and nothing that moves without a reason.
Who makes it
Zaad is designed and developed by Muhammad Mujtaba. Questions and ideas are always welcome on the support page.
