Ingredients Scan

Point your camera at a barcode and Zaad shows what the ingredients list contains, in plain words, so you know what to look into.

Flags are a starting point, not a verdict. This is not a halal certification: always check for a trusted halal logo. Not for allergies.

A scan result: Contains gelatine and carmine; Check source for flavourings and E471, with the disclaimer at the bottom

Three plain flags

Zaad reads the ingredients and E-numbers and groups what it finds. Flags are told apart by shape and words, never by red or green.

ContainsIngredients like gelatine or carmine, which often come from sources many Muslims avoid.
Check sourceCould be from plants or animals, like E471 or rennet. The label may say which.
Views differScholars and certifiers differ on this ingredient.

When nothing matches, Zaad says “No flagged ingredients found”: nothing on our list, which is still not a certification.

What Scan is not. Zaad shows what an ingredients list contains. It is not a halal certification and it does not replace the label or the manufacturer: always check for a trusted halal logo. Product data comes from Open Food Facts contributors and can be incomplete. Scan is not for allergies.
